If you're someone who remembers the Nissan Micra zipping around town back in the day, you're in for a treat - it’s coming back, and this time, it’s all-electric.
That’s right, Nissan is giving its much-loved supermini a 2025 refresh, and it’s ditching petrol for pure electric power. The new Micra will land before the end of the year, and it’s shaping up to be a very cool addition to the growing EV crowd.
The new Micra keeps that compact, city-friendly charm it's always had, but gives it a fresh, modern look. Think big round LED running lights, a sculpted front end, and clean lines running all the way from the nose to the rear doors. Oh - and the rear door handles? Tucked away in the C-pillar for that sleek, flush look. Nice touch, Nissan.
Under the skin, it’ll sit on the new AmpR Small platform and come with two battery choices: a 40kWh or a 52kWh pack. The entry-level version (with the 40kWh battery) is expected to offer just over 190 miles of range, which should be plenty for daily commutes and weekend errands. It’ll also have a 118bhp motor on the front wheels, giving it a 0–62mph time of about nine seconds - not bad at all for a city car.
The electric Micra will be built at a cutting-edge EV facility in Douai, France, and it’s expected to hit UK showrooms with a starting price around £22,995. That places it competitively in the small EV market - affordable enough to attract first-time buyers, and modern enough to tempt long-time Micra fans into going electric.
With this new electric version, Nissan is clearly showing it’s serious about making EVs accessible, stylish, and practical. The Micra's comeback blends nostalgia with next-gen technology - a smart move for a car that’s always been a popular, down-to-earth choice.
