Nissan's roots can be traced back to 1911 when Masujiro Hashimoto founded the Kwaishinsha Motor Car Works in Tokyo. The company produced its first car, the DAT, in 1914. This vehicle was the precursor to the Datsun brand, which was officially introduced in 1931. The name "Datsun" is derived from the initials of the three investors: Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama, and Meitaro Takeuchi, with "sun" representing Japan.
